Lotusphere is the premier annual event of IBM Lotus Software, which is held in Orlando, Florida, and which is aimed at developers, administrators, IT and business professionals looking for collaborative software and solutions. However, the trip to the United States is a time consuming and lengthy one, rendering it impossible for many. As a result, worldwide dubbed Lotusphere Comes To You (LCTY) has been developed by IBM to enable all its customers to benefit from the knowledge sharing of this event.

It was with considerable fanfare then, that LCTY Social Business Roadshow was hosted in Nigeria by IBM Business partner Avance Systems Limited on August 17, 2011.

With a full-day agenda, the event was smaller, but more focused than the original held in the United States, and demonstrated ways in which customers can improve their collaborative skills through expert training sessions, networking and best practices.

An important aspect of the event was the solutions showcase that showcased key solutions from IBM. These included: the IBM Virtual Desktop for Smart Business, IBM Connections, IBM Exceptional Web Experience and IBM LotusLive Collaboration in the Cloud Solutions.

Social business is the world of possibility that occurs when all of the energy and opportunities that have been generated around consumer models, such as Facebook and Twitter, are focused, and brought to bear on business challenges.  Becoming a social business means an organization needs to change its culture and embrace the technology that integrates social collaboration into their business processes

IDB is simple to set up, fast and always complete. Lotus Foundations also offers customers freedom from the high cost of proprietary office productivity software. With the included Lotus symphony software, your customers get the functionality they need to create, edit and share business documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

IBM Lotus Foundations Reach brings VOIP, instant messaging, presence and several more messaging and collaboration tools to its Lotus Foundations Server Appliance. The new Lotus Foundations Reach solution customizes and extends the IBM Sametime UC(2) capabilities in a single appliance designed specifically for SMBs that have limited IT skills and smaller budgets.
